Data Breaches and Incident Response - A legal Perspective

This workshop will provide an overview of managing data breaches for BC based businesses from a legal perspective. It will provide practical considerations as to how a small or mid sized business can manage their risks and comply with applicable laws when dealing with circumstances like a phishing incident or ransom-ware event. It will provide practical considerations for creating or improving upon an existing cyber-security incident response plan.

According to recent Canadian surveys:
1. 83% of Canadian businesses reported attempted ransomware attacks and 67% have experienced one.
2. The most common impact of cyber attacks is preventing employees from carrying out work.
3. 15% of organizations reported a loss of customers following a cyber attack.
