Steve will tie in this month's lunch and learn sessions with the broader need for enhanced community resilience. He will look at some trends and pull it all together to help you realize that our approach to wildfire and disasters in the past doesn't quite cut it any more, and how a broader "all-of-community" approach is now needed. Remember the classic Einstein quote "the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again, and expecting different results each time". Turns out that applies to emergency management as well.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Explore the broader need for enhanced community resilience;
  • Review trends;
  • Understand the need for a "all-of-community" approach.

Bio: Steve has been in the emergency management world for about 37 years. His career spans 23 years in provincial wildfire operations where he started out on fire crews and worked his way up to senior leadership levels.
